We're Number One

Sportsmanship. We write about it, we preach it, but so few actually live it. At the end of our rec league hockey games our teams shake hands, basically telling each other that "Hey, it was fun kicking the shit out of each other for 45 minutes, but lets leave that on the rink."

Then there is Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams who, while watching his tea, wrap up a win against the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo decided this was the thing to do in lieu of a handshake:

About his actions Adams said "I obviously have a great deal of respect for [Bills owner] Ralph Wilson and the history we have shared. I also understand there will probably be league discipline for my actions and I will accept those."

Apparently he started the thing making a Longhorns gesture, the Texas Longhorns being the alma mater of Titans quarterback Vince Young.

For his efforts Adams was fined $250,000 by the NFL.

You know, I've done worse in my life so I'm not going to sweat Bud Adams. In a way I kind of found it refreshing that this guy, a man who owns an NFL franchise which traces its roots back to the original AFL, is no different than you or me.

Well, mostly me.
