Congress Must Block Comcast/NBC deal
A while back I wrote about the beef between Comcast and DirecTV. The beef goes on, still no Versus on DirecTV (and no Hockey) and there appears to be no end to the conflict in site.
I am not writing to update you on this standoff, maddening as it may be to hockey fans who like their TV coming to them from a satellite.
No, I am writing today to demand that congress step in and block the merger of Comcast with NBC/Universal. This merger is going to create a corporate behemoth in the media world that will kill choice, probably kill TV over the internet and devastate free speech in this country.
Don't take mt word for it, go read the assesment of the situation at freepress.net. Then go and sign the online petition (well, only do that if it makes you feel better, people don't pay attention to those things).
Comcast is one of the worst neighbors in corporate history. Having them control both the content and the delivery system is a bad idea.

After the Army I took up working for comcast. I loved being a cable guy but I love and follow emerging trends in technology as part of my survival skills.
AT&T will have a viable metropolitan infrastructure complete within the next 5 years that will allow for content options and services we wont even need for another 10 ten years.
But you probably already know that. :)
Sorry.
