Shit My Dad Says Reviews

Here is the post where I engage in a little Schadenfreude.

Reviews of Shit My Dad Says, the TV Show.

"There’s nothing original about this Odd Couple-inspired offering, nor any performances that might elevate the belabored jokes (even Nicole Sullivan sleepwalks her way through the script)."
NYPress.com

"$#*! My Dad Says is a dismal show, harboring the worst qualities of every lame, four-camera, laugh-tracked sitcom on television. The jokes are painful, the acting is hammy, the characters are flat, and it simply isn't funny. Ever."
slantmagazine.com

" lacks most of the inanity of the Twitter feed that summoned this sitcom into existence. It has been massaged and reshaped into the comforting blandness of the modern sitcom, when what it needed was more controversial $#*!. Which it will never have, since "$#*! My Dad Says" comes from the same play-it-safe producers who gave us those successful and pleasantly neutered culture warriors "Will & Grace."

I could go on. The show is, not funny. It's not even as funny as the Twitter feed was (whether you choose to believe all those quotes were real or not, they were all pretty funny). The point here though it that people are apparently watching this show, millions of people, and its success has (apparently) inspired ABC to develop a different Twitter feed, Awkward Family Photos, into a series.

So, this proves the old saying of it's better to be lucky than good.

If someone really wants to take a Twitter feed and make it into a sitcom, they should start with Jhonen Vasquez's feed. Now THAT I would watch.
