Lost: My thoughts on Kate and Claire
Thoughts on Lost Season Six Episode 2 What Kate Does
Watching Sayid being tortured by Dogen was very reminiscent of when Rousseau tortured Sayid in the first season. Maybe this is how the sickness or the darkness or whatever it is/was vetted out. Sayid, it would appear, is 1 for 2.
I'm not sure what to think about the whole Kate/Claire story. I mean first of all you have Kate, who is the world's dumbest fugitive, who starts waving a gun around in one of the most heavily guarded and monitored airports in this country. She steals a cab, from which the cab driver escapes. The driver must have not reported the cab stolen because Kate proceeded to drive it around town and dump Claire off in the middle of some god-forsaken part of LA. She then takes the cab to some shady auto repair place to cut off her handcuffs (did I mention she was handcuffed?), takes the cab, drives BACK to where she left Claire, drive Claire to where she was headed, then drive her to a hospital where Kate then stays for the delivery of Claire's baby (because these two were apparently meant to be together for this moment). Then, and ONLY then, does a police officer show up to start asking questions.
How long did all that take anyway?
Now, onto Claire. The taxi you were in has been hijacked but a gun waiving nut Kate who proceeds to point the gun at the head of the cab driver, then at Claire. Kate drives a sobbing Claire around town until finally she exits the cab in the aforementioned middle of nowhere. Then Claire, not knowing what to do, decides to stand on a street corner and wait for a bus despite the fact that she apparently has no money and no idea where she is headed. Kate returns, with the stolen cab but missing the handcuffs, and then not only accepts a ride from the same person who just a few minutes earlier was yelling at her and waving a gun in her face, but then asks her to stay for the birth of her child!
No wonder these two were meant to be together, they're both stupid as hell!
And speaking of stupid, why did the marshall not have Kate handcuffed BEHIND HER BACK for the purposes of walking her through the airport. If he was so concerned about what she might do that he was going to take her airplane spork away from her while they were inflight, why would he not insist on Kate doing her business with the bathroom stall door open? I mean, where Kate was headed she wasn't going to have any more privacy than that anyway.
Well, I love the show, but man sometimes we are asked to believe some pretty stupid shit. As a long time comic book reader I am way more inclined to believe in time-travel and alternate timelines and realities than I am some of the stuff I saw Kate and Claire do in the last episode.
