Non-Standard Holiday Movies

I got into a discussion on Facebook, more like a series of stupid comments, about good holiday time movies that were non-traditional. A Christmas Story is often looked at as being one of those cultish holiday films, but the fact that it tuns on cable in a marathon every year maybe diminishes that. Die Hard and Lethal Weapon were tossed out there, but those are set during the holidays and not really a holiday film (take Christmas out of the equation and the films would be largely unchanged).

My recommendations?

1) Bad Santa - Lauren Graham's line makes the movie worth it alone. If you've seen it you know what I mean. Skip the unrated version, it's not better.

2) The Ref - Kevin Spacey AND Dennis Leary.

But one that really needs to be seen to be believed....

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians - Martians kidnap Santa. Hijinks ensue. Here is a trailer...
